Now that Ashanti is prepping to release a new album she’s being a bit coy about who might appear on it.
Her former collaborator Ja Rule gets released from jail in July, and she talked wth HuffPost Live earlier this week about a possible reunion. The duo had a hit on their hands when the released “Always On Time” in 2001, and Ashanti — who has said that she writes Ja Rule letters — says it may be time to make that magic happen again.
“Me and Ja were talking and you know, I don’t say ‘no,'” Ashanti said in an interview with HuffPost Live. “We may do something. I think a lot of fans want to see that. There’s no denying that we had a run, baby. It was magic.”
So no official word on if the Ja reunion will happen — at least not on her next album which she hopes is released this spring — but she says there will be at least one rapper on it.
“I had a really good phone call with one of the hottest rappers out right now and he’s gonna hop on the record,” she said in the interview. “I’m excited about that.”
Who might it be?!
