CocoaFab Launches New Hair How-To Videos with Malinda Williams!

If you’ve loved Malinda Williams as long as we have then you’ll be just as excited as we are about the launch of her new video series “Mane Taming.” Malinda and I reconnected on the set of filming our new talk show EXHALE and while chatting in our makeup chairs I found out that she cuts, colors and relaxes her own hair! She didn’t just play a hairstylist in Soul Food, she used to work in a salon and still has the skills!

We brainstormed a bit and came up with the idea for this new series “Mane Taming with Malinda Williams” for YOU so you can get her celebrity hair secrets and learn how to maintain healthy hair and rock hot new styles.

PRESS RELEASE, founded by Angela Burt-Murray, former editor-in-chief of Essence magazine, and leading digital strategist Shelly Jones Jennings, announced today that it has formed a digital content development partnership with actress Malinda Williams. Under the content partnership they will co-produce original hair, beauty and fashion-focused videos for The first project premieres today—a “do-it-yourself” (DIY) hair care focused video series titled “Mane Taming with Malinda Williams.” The content partnership also launches the campaign “Love is in the Hair” (#loveisinthehair), to spark conversation about the relationship Black Women have with their hair and to support a healthy hair movement.

“We’re so excited to partner with Malinda to develop a new slate of beauty and fashion videos and to launch the love is in the hair campaign. Malinda, who relaxes, colors, cuts and styles her own hair, brings so much to this project as she shares her red-carpet ready tips in “Mane Taming,” said Burt-Murray. “And we’re thrilled ORS supports our vision for Malinda’s first video series and the online community of DIY hair divas.”

“Mane Taming with Malinda Williams” is born from Williams’ long-time passion for hairstyling: growing up she watched her mom do hair out of their home in New Jersey. The actress, who does her own hair, attended the Hair Fashion Institute in Plainfield, N.J. Williams worked two different salons over five years, one owned by her aunt, while simultaneously building her acting career.

Known for always sporting cool and sexy short hairstyles and for her role on the hit series likes Soul Food, Williams will share hair care tips for achieving looks like hers.  In each episode Williams will demonstrate how she styles her hair from start to finish and will cover techniques that include relaxing, wrapping, coloring and trimming hair at home. The videos will be posted to in eight parts, hosted by Williams, over four weeks—running Tuesdays and Thursdays. In the first episode of “Mane Taming with Malinda Williams,” posted today, Williams will show viewers how to get one of her signatures styles—how the hair is prepped for styling after blow-drying, how she flat irons it and which products she uses.

“People are consuming more and more content outside of traditional viewing platforms and I wanted to offer my fans something that I think is relevant, useful and entertaining, at the same time,” said Williams. “I am an actress, yes, but I am also trained in the hair/beauty industry. The content produced for will be a perfect marriage of the two.”

Hair Care Company ORS has signed on as the exclusive advertising partner for “Mane Taming with Malinda Williams” on In addition to advertising on the site and pre-roll brand presence, the company’s Dr. Hair will conduct two twitter chats with Williams, Thurs., July 11, 2 p.m. EDT and Saturday, July 20, 2 p.m. EDT.
