After six years off the charts, Janet Jackson is preparing to release a new album.
While the rumors of a new album has circulated for months, a recent interview with Barefoot Sound, Jackson’s long time collaborator, Ian Cross confirmed that the project was in the works.”She asked me to work on an album with her called “Discipline†in 2007 and, again, just do the same thing, produce the vocals. That led to her hiring me full-time to work with her. That’s where I’m at now,” stated Cross.
Last week, the Youtube Channel ‘Ballroom Throwbacks’ teased fans with a hint of Jackson’s comeback as its producer interviewed choreographer, Danielle Polanco. Sources claim that the Jackson already completed some recording in Atlanta, Georgia and that the album will be released through a major recording label.
The producer, who also helped to engineer Janet’s past three studio albums (Damita Jo, 20 Y.O. and Discipline), also confirmed that the upcoming record has been a particularly global experience this time around: “The Janet Jackson’s of the world can’t just spend their time in one studio in one city anymore…we’ve been working in Qatar. We’ve been working in Paris, the Middle East, and now we feel like we can work anywhere.â€
And as for what to expect? “The new album is going to be great. It’s a process. There’s a lot in store, yet to come. I can’t go into too many details but I think Janet Jackson’s fans are going to be very excited about the new album, and I think people who don’t know her as fans are going to be excited about it, too.â€
