There’s a new family sitcom headed to ABC and this one is sure to cause a stir.
Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson and Laurence Fishburne are set to star in Black-ish, this fall.
The comedy will focus on a middle-class family struggling to raise their children with a sense of cultural identity while being the only black folks in sight.
The show is produced by Laurence Fishburne’s production company, Cinema Gypsy and written by Kenya Barris, who says it’s loosely based on his own life.
“I decided to do this project when I looked up and realized that everywhere I go I’m constantly the fly in buttermilk… I’m usually THE Black guy at work. We’re THE Black family in the neighborhood. My kids are basically THE Black kids at school. I think it’s kind of a situation of be careful what you wish for. It’s almost in like moving on up, I’ve sort of priced myself “out†of being Black,” he said.
Black-ish will air this Fall on Wednesdays at 9:30|8:30c on ABC.
