Now that baby Kimye has arrived, shutterbugs surely can’t wait to score that first photo.
But how much could that first baby photo fetch? And who will get it?
According to French newspaper Nice Matin, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt sold the first photos of their twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon to People for $11 million. (They didn’t need the money; they ended up donating the money to charity.)
That high price was a record; other celebs have scored huge dollar amounts: TMZ.com reported that Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves sold photos of their son Levi to OK! magazine for $3 million, and it was reported by Advertising Age that Jennifer Lopez (who at the time hadn’t had a hit movie or record in years) sold her baby photos for up to $6 million to People magazine. Christina Aguilera got a $1.5 million check for exclusive shots of her son, Max.
So how about Kimye? The other celebrities mentioned have a life that many of us don’t know about. They aren’t reality TV staples and their day-to-day lives aren’t documented on the small screen weekly, nor do we even see regular interviews with them. There’s a mystique about Brangelina and the others. But the Kardashian Klan is everywhere.
Howard Bragman, vice chairman of Reputation.com, tells USA Today that he believes the photos could fetch 7 or 8 figures.
