Get ready! Ms. Milkshake is making a come back.
Kelis’ next album, her first since 2010’s Flesh Tone, will mark something of a left turn. In addition to the announcement that it’ll be entirely produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, she’s also revealed that it’ll be released on Ninja Tune, the UK indie label best known for experimental electronic and left-field rap artists.
The new album is simply titled Food and is scheduled for release on April 28. A press release describes it as “a soul record that’s as raw and alternative as it is classic.”
The title of the album is ironic and perhaps a nod to her love of food, as she is a classically trained chef. Kelis is slated to release her line of marinades and sauces in 2014, as well.
