It’s just after 1:00 in the morning and I could probably work at least another two hours. What’s a startup diva to do?? Push through. If you talk to any entrepreneur I’m sure they’d say that sleep is a luxury they can ill afford. And given my partner Shelly (who just emailed me herself at 1:10 a.m.!!) is also up still working clearly there’s more to be done. (This is also probably why two LEOs shouldn’t be in business together but that’s a post for another day.)
And what might you ask keeps us going after putting in 16-hour days (besides being LEOs of course)? Our fuel is the feedback we’ve received from young women who love the content and videos, getting inspired by the stories of other female entrepreneurs (#213 on my ever-expanding to-do list is to start a weekly Startup Diary interview to you can hear some of their stories and support their ventures as well), and great days like today where we launched our second site: CocoaFab.TV and… DRUM ROLL PLEASE: We launched our first advertising campaign with Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy!!!
And bonus: Beyonce sang the national anthem today LIVE and killed it and there were new Idris Elba photos to post today.
I gave a radio interview earlier this week and the host asked me what made me start this business after working in cushy corporate America for the majority of my career and I said that Shelly and I thought we could create something unique and different but I also said it’s important for women in particular to bet on themselves at least once in their life. That’s what Shelly and I have decided to do, bet on ourselves. It’s been incredibly rewarding to be gaining traction so quickly in terms of traffic and advertising so I would say today, at 1:31 a.m., it’s starting to feel like the bet is paying off.
Ok… Should probably try to get some sleep before it’s time to starting programming the sites (yippee! it’s two sites now) in like um… six hours… Yawn…
In the immortal words of that great western philosopher O’Shea “Ice Cube” Jackson– “Today Was a Good Day.”
