It was a Braxton Family reunion last night at the Los Angeles premiere of Toni’s new movie “Twist of Faith.” From Toni’s adorable sonsDenim and Deizel to sisters Traci, Evelyn, Towanda and Tamar all eyes were on the Braxtons! The movie, which premieres on Lifetime Saturday, February 9 at 8/7c, centers around Toni who plays small-town gospel singer Nia and her relationship with an Orthodox Jewish Cantor, who after losing his family, ends up abandoning his identity and goes wandering into Nia’s life.
According to Access Hollywood Live Braxton had this to say about her first starring movie role and the connection she felt to her character: “I sang in the choir. I went to college to be a teacher – she’s a school teacher. [She is everything] I would’ve been had my moment not happened at that gas station that one day.” As fans of the singer know, “that gas station” moment was when Toni was discovered by Bill Pettaway, a producer, who was working with a then-emerging Milli Vanilli, and heard her singing while she was filling her tank.
As for the romantic scenes Toni to Access Hollywood: “Kissing is odd, and it’s not as comfortable as you think. You have to block it a few times and it’s choreographed — like he comes in and I come in… and the camera zooms up.”
And as for any new romances in real life: “I’m not really dating,” she said. “I need to get back on that horse again.”
