Former major league baseball player, Darryl Hamilton was found dead in his Pearland, TX home on Fatherâ€™s Day.
According to USA Today, Hamilton was found unresponsive in his home after being shot multiple times by his girlfriend Monica Jordan. She was found in another part of the home after committing what police have determine to be suicide.
Over the course of 13 major league seasons, Hamilton played for the Brewers, Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets.
Hamilton and Jordan’s one-year-old child was also in the house unharmed. The baby has since been turned over to protective services.
“He was a talented and personable individual, and we were proud to call him a member of the Baseball Family. On behalf of Major League Baseball, I extend my deepest sympathies to Darryl’s family and his many friends throughout our game” said MLB commissioner Rob Manfred saiÂ in a statement.
Following his retirement in 2001, the 50-year-old had ben working as a sports commentator for NBC and the MLB Network.
According to ESPN, autopsies are pending on both Hamilton and Jordan.
