Univision host Rodner Figueroa fired for comparing michelle obama's looks to the planet of the apes cast

Have people learned nothing from the Fashion Police debacle? Another TV host is finding out the hard way that you shouldn’t try to be funny when talking about Black women’s beauty.

According to The Huffington Post, Univision Emmy-award winning host Rodner Figueroa was fired Wednesday after comparing first lady Michelle Obama’s appearance to that of someone from the cast of the “Planet of the Apes” on the network’s popular entertainment news show “El Gordo Y La Flaca.”

You just can’t make this stuff up.

Apparently Figueroa’s comment came while talking about celebrity transformations with make-up artist Paolo Ballesteros’ who has made a name for himself by transforming into female stars. Rodner, reportedly known for Fashion Police type remarks, analyzed Ballesteros’ transformation for Michelle Obama with an original photo of the first lady beside it.

Then the ish hit the fan.

The HuffPost reports:

“Mind you, you know that Michelle Obama looks like she’s part of the cast of “Planet of the Apes,” the film,” Figueroa said.

Host Raúl de Molina attempted to counter the comment saying he thought Obama was very attractive. The show aired live on the East Coast and was edited for the West Coast.
