In response to Usher V’s near drowning Monday, mother Tameka Foster has filed for custody. Citing a dangerous environment, Tameka has gone to court gust a day after her son with Usher IV (daddy) was rescued from a pool drain.
Little Usher’s hospitalization has set off what could be an ugly custody battle after the boy’s mom apparently blamed the Voice judge for the accident.
The R&B singer was not at the home where the terrifying incident occurred, a report said. But Usher’s ex-wife, the boy’s mother, seems to be holding the entertainer responsible anyway.
Tameka Foster — who lost another child by a different father in a Jet Ski accident — filed legal documents Tuesday to try to gain custody of little Usher V, citing a dangerous environment, TMZ said.
Usher V is the older of two brothers. His parents divorced in 2009 after two years of marriage and became embroiled in a legal battle over custody. Usher was awarded primary custody last year, TMZ said.
Foster, 42, is still recovering from last year’s death of another son — 11-year-old Kile Glover, her child with another man.
“My son is okay, but I have no further comment at this time,” she told CNN on Tuesday.
Original story from Tuesday August 6:
Usher‘s son Usher Raymond V is in the ICU at an Atlanta hospital after a serious accident in the singer’s pool Monday, TMZ is reporting.
According to sources, the accident occurred around 6 PM yesterday. Usher was not home at the time.
The child was playing in the pool with his aunt and saw a toy in the drain. He dove down to get the toy and his arm got stuck in the drain. The aunt immediately dove in to rescue him but couldn’t get his hand out. The maid then dove in and tried but was also unsuccessful.
When the maid yelled for help, two men working in the house came out, dove in and freed the boy. He was given CPR immediately and rushed to the hospital. Usher arrived and drove in the ambulance with his son.
5-year-old Usher Raymond V is the oldest of Usher’s two sons with ex-wife Tameka Raymond. We’re told Usher and Tameka are currently at the hospital.
Doctors have been running a series of tests and doctors say he will make a full recovery.
