All Twitter and Facebook could talk about this weekend was that one song. Yeah, you know the one I’m talking about. Ray J’s “I Hit It First”.
From folks cheering Ray on to others slamming him for making a song about a years old jumpoff, the Twitterverse was all abuzz. However, there’s one person who has heard the song and isn’t impressed… Kanye West.
“Ray J is crazy” for releasing a song that overtly disses Kanye and Kim, a source close to the rapper tells HollywoodLife.com. He’s infuriated that Ray J would trudge up his and Kim’s sex tape from 2007 just to get a little attention. If you forgot, Ray-J and Kim Kardashian starred in a porno movie together called “Kim K Superstar.”
But the source also says that Kanye sees the song for what it truly is — a publicity stunt. ”Kanye don’t condone broke ass, jealous [guys] who be trying to bite off he and Kim’s fame just to stay, wait, just to become relevant.”
Even though Kanye’s fuming, the source states that Yeezy won’t be giving Ray J the attention he wants. So we should probably stop hoping for Kanye to release a diss track of his own (that battle wouldn’t even be fair).
“Tell him to call Ye when he gets to the $100-million mark,” our source concludes. “Cause guess what — Ye ‘hit that’ first.”
To capitalize on the buzz over his new song, Ray J took to Hot 97 this morning to talk about the song, Kim, and Kanye.
Surprisingly, Ray J denies that the song is even about Kim and says the media is making it into something it isn’t. “They just gotta keep it on the surface. I’m not trying to create no war, it’s all love; we’re doing music.”
Ray never mentions his ex-boo by name, but there are a bunch of references that come off as more-than-subtle digs at Kim. The song’s hook seems to allude to not only Kim, but her ex-beau NFL star Reggie Bush, ex-husband Kris Humphries and current man Kanye West. “She might move on to rappers and ball players, but we all know I hit it first,” he sings before taunts “I hit it, I hit it” repeatedly.
The song’s verses are even more obvious. “I hit it north, with her ass goin’ south, but now baby chose to go west,” he wails tongue-in-cheek.
Toward the end of the song, Ray J even offers to “make another movie,” but won’t go as far to say that he made the song to intentionally insult Kim or Kanye. “It’s not a war, it’s not a dis song, we’re just having fun,” he said on the radio. “Bring it back to the song. That’s all I’m on.”
