Will Kendrick Lamar Appear On Empire? Taraji P. Henson Raps “King Kunta”

The cast of Empire is campaigning up until the last second for their Emmy nominations! On the gold carpet for “A Performance Under the Stars at The Grove” in L.A. The Wrap got some of the cast to sing their favorite summer jams.

Bryshere Gray, aka Hakeem Lyon, chose his breakout anthem, “Drip Drop.”

“You better sing!” Taraji P. Henson said as Kaitlin Doubleday, aka Rhonda Lyon hit all of Mariah Carey’s high notes from her 1995-hit “Always Be My Baby.”

The biggest surprise was Henson’s favorite summer jam, “King Kunta” from Grammy Award winning rapper, Kendrick Lamar. Was Cookie Lyon giving us a clue that the Compton native could be the latest signee of Empire Records?
